Automating Channel Point Responses with Modomation
The Modomation module allows you to automate repetitive tasks, such as responding to specific channel point redemptions or managing VIP status. This guide walks you through setting up an automated chat response for a popular channel point reward.
Scenario: The “Hydrate” Reminder
You want your chat to automatically celebrate whenever a viewer redeems a “Hydrate” channel point reward. Instead of manually thanking them, you want the bot to post a customized message that includes the viewer’s name and how many times they have redeemed that specific reward.
Prerequisites
- Tier Requirement: This automation is available on the Free tier and above. Review Module access by tier for more details.
- Twitch Permissions: Ensure your StreamerCatalyst connection has the necessary
channel:read:redemptionsanduser:write:chatscopes.
Step-by-Step Setup
-
Access the Module: Open the Modomation section in your StreamerCatalyst dashboard.
-
Create a New Rule: Click the Add Rule button.
-
Select your Reward: From the list of available Channel Point rewards retrieved from your Twitch channel, select your “Hydrate” reward.
-
Configure the Message: In the message template field, write your desired response. You can use template variables to make the message dynamic:
{user}: Inserts the viewer’s display name.{count}: Inserts the total number of times that specific viewer has redeemed this reward.
Example Template:
{user} just sent a hydration reminder! This is redemption #{count} for them! 💧 -
Save the Rule: Click Save to store your template.
-
Activate the Automation: This is a critical step—you must click Subscribe on the rule card. This registers the Twitch EventSub subscription required to trigger the automation in real time.
Worked Example
Once the rule is saved and subscribed, the automation will trigger automatically during your stream:
- Viewer Action:
Aliceredeems the “Hydrate” reward for the 3rd time. - Automatic Chat Output:
Alice just sent a hydration reminder! This is redemption #3 for them! 💧
Pro Tip: Automating Raid Protection
To ensure your community isn’t interrupted by ads immediately after a raid, you can enable the “Snooze ads on raid” feature.
- Go to Modomation in your dashboard.
- Navigate to the Channel Events section.
- Toggle “Snooze next ad on raid” to On.
Note: This requires the channel:manage:ads OAuth scope. If prompted, re-authorize your account to grant this permission. This feature only works while you are live with an ad scheduled and consumes one of Twitch’s limited daily snoozes.
Advanced Features
Depending on your subscription tier, you can expand your automation capabilities:
- VIP Management: (Affiliate tier and above) Grant or revoke VIP status directly from the dashboard.
- ML Moderation Suggestions: (Partner tier and above) Use machine learning to receive daily suggestions for tuning your AutoMod settings based on recent moderation events.
For a full breakdown of feature limits, see the Tier comparison page.
